About Oasis St Kilda
Oasis St Kilda, blends stylish urban design with a natural botanical landscape, right in the heart of trendy St. Kilda. Oasis has 236 modern residential apartments of varying configurations set on three acres, half of which is within lush, native landscaped garden. Renowned architects Williams Boag were chosen for their innovative, creative design skills to redevelop and reclaim the Municipal Depot site into a place the whole community would be proud of. The passive solar architectural design supports the residents and tenants, including a grey water recycling program. Oasist boasts 240 underground car spaces, on-site convenience store and digital, broadband cabling networks.
The complex was built as joint venture project between the City of Port Phillip and Inkerman Developments, with construction commencing in December 2000.
The complex was in five stages, with the final stage completed in 2012. The result is a total complex of 267 apartments, of which 32 were retained by the Port Phillip Housing Association to provide housing for local social needs.
Ecologically Sustainable Design features heavily at Oasis, in both the active and passive building systems. The complex was designed to achieve 3.5 to 4.5-star rating through a combination of energy efficiency through solar water heating cross and vertical natural ventilation, building orientation with the sun, solar-powered communal lighting, and open public areas.
